An extraordinary branch of Sicilian coral depicting Mary Magdalene in prayer and assumed into heaven, borne up by angels. A few lilies on the branches, symbol of the French realm, recall a tradition reported in the Golden Legend, according to which Mary Magdalene, after leaving Palestine, is said to have landed in Provence, giving rise to the royal Merovingian line.
